Cecelia M. Smith, D.O.

Dr. Smith is actively involved both on the university campus as well as in the medical community. She is a reviewer for the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and she holds membership in the American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, American Thoracic Society, Association of American Medical Colleges, California Medical Association and the San Diego County Medical Society. Some of Dr. Smith's honors include, the National Institutes of Health National Pulmonary Faculty Training Award and the UCSD Medical Center's Physician of the Year.

Upon graduating with a bachelor of science degree from Villanova University in Villanova, Pa., she went on to obtain a medical degree in osteopathic medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Smith completed her residency in internal medicine at the Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia, a clinical fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Tufts University in Boston, as well as a clinical and research fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of California San Diego.
