Serpil C. Erzurum, M.D.
Serpil C. Erzurum, M.D. is the director of the Lung Biology Program and a staff member of the of the Department of Pulmonary,
Critical Care Medicine and Cancer Biology at the Lerner Research Institute at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She is also a professor
of clinical chemistry at Cleveland State University.
As an esteemed pulmonology researcher, Dr. Erzurum reviews various medical journals, including the American Journal of Respiratory
Cell and Molecular Biology, European Respiratory Journal, Experimental Lung Research and the Journal of Immunology. She is
actively involved in the American Thoracic Society as a member of the Allergy, Immunology and Inflammation Program Long Range Planning
Committee and she serves on the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association of Ohio. Additionally, she is a member of the
American Association for Advancement of Science, the American Federation of Clinical Research, American College of Chest Physicians,
Oxygen Society, American Association of Immunologists and the American Society of Clinical Investigation.
Following graduation from Youngstown State University in Ohio with two bachelor of science degrees, Dr. Erzurum obtained her medical
degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Her post graduate work includes a residency in internal medicine at
Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a pulmonary/critical care fellowship at the Health Sciences Center in Denver.
